Research Grants

 

Looking for funds to support your laser research projects?

 

The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Inc. (ASLMS) annually awards research projects designed to foster the development and use of lasers and other energy based technologies in medical and surgical applications. In addition, as many as four student grants of $5,000 each may be awarded each year.

Awards

 

Each year at the Annual Conference, a number of prestigious awards are presented. The award receipients are chosen from a pool of nominations. Nominations are accepted for the following awards. The nomination deadline for the 2015 Conference is August 31, 2014.

 

Dr. Horace Furumoto Innovations Professional Development Award
The ASLMS is very pleased to administer the annual Dr. Horace Furumoto Innovations Professional Development Award. This award was founded by Candela Corporation, Cynosure, and DEKA to memorialize the genius, leadership, and commitment of Dr. Horace Furumoto.

 

Caroline and William Mark Memorial Award

Established in 1982, the Caroline and William Mark Memorial Award is presented to a member of the Society selected for outstanding contributions to laser technology. The award is presented in honor of William B. Mark, who played a pivotal role in the formation of the Society.

 

Leon Goldman Memorial Award

The Leon Goldman Memorial Award was established in 1998 to recognize the many
contributions in the areas of clinical laser research, laser patient care and medical laser
education of Leon Goldman, M.D., the “Father of Laser Medicine.” The award recipient must
share the characteristics of honesty, high ethical standards and dedication to patients that
were possessed by its namesake.

 

Ellet H. Drake Memorial Award
The Ellet H. Drake Memorial Award was established in 1995 to recognize a practicing physician who has contributed to innovative laser procedures and/or laser products for medicine. The award is given in memory of Ellet Drake, M.D., co-founder of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

 

Excellence in Laser Nursing/Allied Health Award

The Excellence in Laser Nursing/Allied Health award was established in 1991 to recognize outstanding nursing and allied health contributions to ASLMS and the advancement of joint practice in laser medicine and surgery.
