Celebration of ASLMS Women in Energy-Based Devices

Join us for an evening of networking and inspiration, with a focus on women from all specialties involved in ASLMS, which includes scientists, clinicians, allied health practitioners and women in the energy-based device industry. For 2018, the Celebration will highlight featured speaker Merete Haedersdal, MD, PhD, DMSc. Following her talk “The World is your Oyster,” the evening will proceed with an expert panel offering industry, scientific and clinical perspectives and the presentation of the ASLMS Leadership, Mentorship & Public Advocacy for Women in Medical Science award to Tina S. Alster, MD. Attendees can enjoy complimentary light hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and networking with peers and luminaries. See the event schedule.

The ASLMS Leadership, Mentorship & Public Advocacy for Women in Medical Science Award will also be presented. This award will honor Tina S. Alster, MD, as an individual who has significantly promoted the professional development of women in specialties using lasers and/or energy-based devices through teaching, mentoring, organizational leadership, or public advocacy. Keynote Speaker - Dan Harris

Dan Harris is co-anchor of both Nightline and the weekend edition of Good Morning America on ABC News. He is also the author of 10% Happier, a #1 New York Times best-selling book about a fidgety, skeptical news anchor who stumbles upon meditation. Since releasing the book, Harris has also launched 10% Happier: Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics app, as well as the 10% Happier podcast. The app mixes the irreverence of the book with simple, practical, down-to-earth instructions for meditation. This ancient practice – too long associated exclusively with hippies and robed gurus – has been shown by modern science to boost resilience, focus, creativity, emotional intelligence, and overall mental and physical health. Participants will receive a business card with the URL and password to log in for image download. Pictures are high-resolution, suitable for print or digital use.

In addition to the Exhibitor Reception, ASLMS will host its 13th annual Silent Auction to support research grants. Stop by for your last chance to bid on some fantastic items. Bidding closes at 6:30 PM followed by announcement of the winners.

Early Career Reception

This special reception offers our students and early career attendees the opportunity to network and build professional relationships with colleagues. The reception is open to all students, residents, fellows-in-training, PhD candidates, and scientists and physicians 10 years or less post-graduation.
