Membership Application

We invite you to join the world’s preeminent society for research and education in the field of biomedical lasers and energy-based devices.

Application Details

• Applications are accepted at any time and will be reviewed by the Vice President. Membership benefits commence immediately upon confirmation.
  
• If you apply online, you will be prompted to establish an account prior to submitting the membership application.
• Please complete all parts of the application. Applications sent via fax and mail are acceptable.
• All properly filed applications will be reviewed by the Vice President. The Vice President may refer applications to the Board of Directors under special circumstances.
• If the Board of Directors denies membership to an applicant, or if the membership is approved in a class other than the class applied for, the applicant may request that the Board of Directors reconsider its decision in the manner set forth in the Board Policies.
• After your application has been confirmed by the ASLMS Vice President, you will be sent a new member packet and membership certificate.
• All applicants for membership and all members in the Society, as a condition of their application and as a continuing condition of membership, waive the right to make any claim, file any suit or take any legal action against the Society, its agents, members, officers, directors and committees, as described in the membership application and the Board policies.
• The Society does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, gender, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, or sexual orientation in any aspect of its operations, including, but not limited to, the provision of services, membership on the Society’s governing board or committees, and attendance at or participation in the Society’s programs, grant selection, meetings, and events.

Follow these steps to access members-only content.

1. After submitting your application, please log out.
2. Log back in to authenticate your membership status.
3. You are now able to access the journal, online learning center and other resources as a member, and receive member rates for conference and online learning.

Membership Categories and Rates

Standard Membership

Associate – Any scientist, engineer, physician, other health care professional, or any individual who is qualified and duly licensed to engage in independent clinical practice and is qualified and recognized in his or her respective field. Or, any individual who is recognized as being significantly involved with the laser industry.

• $375 (U.S.) - Physician/Industry
• $180 (U.S.) - Scientist
• $130 (U.S.) - Nursing/Allied Health

NOTE - To encourage membership in lower income economies where the dues level may inhibit people from joining, ASLMS now offers individuals residing in countries defined by the World Bank as low income or lower- middle income  economies a reduction in dues. Dues rates are indicated on the online application.

Early Career Membership

2nd Year Post Graduate – If you have completed your training in the last two years.

• $248 (U.S.) - Physician/Industry
• $119 (U.S.) - Scientist
• $86 (U.S.) - Nursing/Allied Health

1st Year Post Graduate – If you have completed your training in the last year.

• $125 (U.S.) - Physician/Industry
• $60 (U.S.) - Scientist
• $43 (U.S.) - Nursing/Allied Health

Graduate Student – Any scientist, engineer, physician, or health care professional who has earned a bachelor’s degree, and is pursuing further education in science, engineering, biology, medicine, surgery or other related discipline.

• FREE

Undergraduate Student – Any student who is seeking an undergraduate degree at an accredited educational institution. This class is non-voting.
