Get to Know Denver, Colorado

A Little Business, A Little Pleasure:

Denver is the gateway to pre- and post-meeting adventure in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. In a little more than an hour, you can hike or fly fish in Rocky Mountain National Park; climb the world's highest railroad to the top of Pikes Peak; play poker, Black Jack and roulette in Old West mountain mining towns; go river rafting down spectacular Clear Creek Canyon or just relax in luxury at a variety of international ski and summer resorts like Vail, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Beaver Creek, Keystone and the Broadmoor.

Shop 'til you Drop:

Denver is the largest shopping center in a 600 mile radius with everything from Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus and H&M to one of the nation's largest independent bookstores - the Tattered Cover. The Cherry Creek Shopping District, just three miles from downtown, has nearly 500 department stores, art galleries, shops and boutiques, all in a deluxe ultra upscale mall or on quiet tree-lined streets.

Denver Dining:

Denver has 2,000 restaurants (300 downtown within walking distance of the Colorado Convention Center) serving all varieties of cuisine. Area specialties include Southwestern dishes, buffalo, Colorado beef and lamb and fresh produce such as succulent Palisade peaches and sweet Olathe corn.

Enjoy a Tall, Frosty One:

Denver brews more beer than any other city with 200 different beers brewed in town daily and at the Coors Brewing Company - the largest single brewing site on earth.

Cultural Delights:

The Denver Performing Arts Complex is the second largest in the nation with 10 venues seating 10,000 for opera, theatre, symphony and ballet.

In Denver, You Are Never Far from Nature:

Denver has the nation's largest city park system and the fourth largest museum - the massive Denver Museum of Nature & Science. In 2012, the Denver Zoo opened the Toyota Elephant Passage, while the Denver Botanic Gardens is regarded as one of the finest in the nation.

Mile High Art:

Visit the amazing Denver Art Museum, with its striking building designed by Daniel Libeskind and explore one of the world's most comprehensive collections of Native American art works. Next door, the Clyfford Still Museum showcases masterpieces from the nearly 2,000-piece collection of the famed, American abstract artist.

A Sports Fan's Dream City:

Denver is one of only two cities to offer seven professional sports teams! With 5 sports stadiums, Denver offers MLB baseball with the Colorado Rockies; NFL football with the Denver Broncos; NHL hockey with the Colorado Avalanche; NBA basketball with the Denver Nuggets; MLS with the Colorado Rapids; as well as two professional lacrosse teams.

Hit the Links:

Denver has 90 golf courses that remain open all-year long and have been played as often as 30 days in January.

A Two-Wheel Town:

Denver boasts 85 miles of bike trails, all part of the largest city park system in the nation. In 2010, Denver launched the nation's first major bicycle sharing program, B-cycle, with 800 shiny red bikes available for sharing at more than 80 stations.

Transportation

We have not contracted with a shuttle company as in previous years and are encouraging everyone to take the light rail (RTD) from the airport. Please see the picture/map/directions below of the light rail journey from the airport to the Hyatt.

RTD Directions - Airport to Hyatt Regency

The RTD

Once you retrieve your items in baggage claim, follow the signs toward the airport’s hotel and transit center, directly underneath the new Westin Denver International Airport Hotel and Conference Center. Vending machines are available at the airport or there is a mobile app option to pre-purchase your tickets. You will use the A Train. The trip into downtown Denver from the airport leaves every 15 minutes and takes about 40 minutes to reach Union Station. From there, you can walk one block to 16th Street, and catch the Free Mallride to the corner of the 16th St Mall and Welton Street. This is one block from the Hyatt Regency located at 650 15th Street.

The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Inc. is the world’s largest scientific organization dedicated to promoting research, education and high standards of clinical care in the field of medical laser applications. It provides a forum for the exchange of scientific information and participation in communicating the latest developments in laser medicine and surgery to clinicians, research investigators, government and regulatory agencies, and the public.
