NEW - Upload Presentation by February 10, 2019

  • Per ACCME regulation and ASLMS policy, all presentations must be reviewed by first by Central Office staff, then by Course Directors AND finally by the CME Director to identify and resolve all COI and to finalize acceptance for CME presentation. This is a lengthy process and we appreciate your cooperation.
  • This is a hard deadline. Non-compliant speakers may be barred from presenting for one or more years.
  • If you have further questions regarding this requirement, please contact presentations@aslms.org.

Faculty Slide Presentation Guidelines

presentation requirements

  • A disclosure slide listing any and all financial relationships with CME defined commercial interests acquired within the past 12 months that you have submitted to us will be automatically added to your presentation once it's uploaded.
  • Use 'generic' rather than 'brand names', include other comparable technologies in discussions, and objectively address both pros and cons.
  • Appearance of COI (i.e. bias or content directly pertinent to disclosures) is not permitted.
  • Advertising, trade names, corporate logos, or product-group messages are NOT allowed.

format

  • PowerPoint Presentation (pptx).
  • 16:9 ratio (widescreen format).
    • Be sure your presentation is in 16:9 ratio format or it may not display correctly on the front screen!

Length and Content

Time guidelines will be strictly enforced out of fairness.  Please be respectful of the time assigned for your talk.

  • Internet-based, embedded content will not be supported.
  • Keep your PowerPoint within 5-10 slides for even pace and easy-to-follow presentation.
  • Tip: Keep slides uncluttered, and consider using appropriate images, diagrams, tables and figures for clarity.

Faculty Handout Guidelines

Important notes

  • Lecture handouts are required for every faculty talk in a CME session
  • Handouts will be distributed starting approximately 2-weeks prior to the conference via electronic link to all course, workshop, breakfast and luncheon educational program attendees.
  • On the upload site, a handout is required for any item that does NOT have “n/a” in the “Handout Uploaded” column.
Note - In past years, attendees commented on CME/CE Evaluations that Faculty handouts were either not available in a timely manner or that the handout content did not accurately reflect the lecture. Timely, accurate information is vital to effective learning. Please support the ASLMS mission of providing quality CME/CE with a focus of continuous quality improvement and excellence in all of its activities.

NEW THIS YEAR

  • You will have the option on the upload site to indicate that you would like to use your Oral Presentation Slides as your handout and the ASLMS Central Office will take care of converting the slides into a PDF document for you, or you may also upload a separate file for your PDF handout.

If choosing to upload your own handout, please follow these guidelines:

Format

  • PDF.
  • White background with black text - for best readability and hassle-free printing.
  • You may use color on the handout within illustrations or for important emphasis.
  • You can opt to do one slide per page, or for conciseness, 4 slides per page horizontal.

Content

  • Handout must accurately represent at least 75% of your lecture content.
  • You do not need to include patient photos or other sensitive information; however, please include helpful charts, graphs, data and other information pertinent to effective learning.

Faculty Pre/Post-Test Question Creation Guidelines

Important notes

  • As a faculty speaker, you must create 1-2 multiple choice questions, per every scheduled talk in a CME Session.
  • Avoid creating True/False and All/None of the Above type questions.
  • Submit your questions to nicole@aslms.org by February 10, 2019.
    • Please indicate the talk title that corresponds with each set of questions.
